Postponed

Following on from the extremely cold, snowy and frozen few weekends in the beginning of January, the concensus of oppinion has been that we abandon Saturday Racing till the weather warms up.

This weekend and next weekend is also a busy weekend for the prospective Dinghy Instructors as they are using the next two weekends to train and hopefully qualify.

The intention is to consider whether or not to continue Saturday Racing at the end of February.

If you want to continue with the Saturday Racing up until the start of the formal racing season, please let us know, we don't mind if you'd prefer to keep warm, rather than bobbing about in the cold light airs. ;-)

s-NO-w Sailing Today

With the current snowy conditions it seems like a good idea not to try to race today.

However, there are some people: Neil Marsden, an RYA coach and good friend of ours that do have great fun Ice Sailing in conditions like these, although not usually in this country. Hope you're having fun Neil ;-)

For us here the conditions aren't suitable for either sailing on ice, or even on water - perhaps.

However, there was something that might interest some younger sailors:

Last Race Before Christmas

This Saturday; the 12th, will be the last Social Racing Session before Christmas.

It promises to be a relatively warm and clear day, with perhaps just enough wind.

An East North Easterly wind of around 6 knots, with minimal gusts pushing it up to possibly 8 knots, an easy, relaxed afternoons sailing.

As usual 13:00 briefing and first race starting at 13:30. Light is fading fast now so there may well only be enough time for two races so that we can pack away in the daylight.

We need someone to give Neil and Ian a run for their money, and we need to show the GP14s that there are other classes, even if they have all gone over to centre helms..

See you all on Saturday....

First Saturday's Racing in December

For the first Saturday in December, the weather promises to be fairly good for some Social Racing, 12 to 20 knots, with minimal gusting. Should be a good first sail for the uninitiated.

Check out Quiz 14 from UK-Halsey, and check who's in the right for the windward mark.

When we get out onto the water this week the intention is to have a figure of eight course, with two windward marks. So spend a bit of time before the race and see if you can get the best track for each windward mark.

So come down to the lake and have a go at three races: back to back, before an early finish and boats away in time for sundown, and tea.

With any luck,we won't have the mist and the fog that's in the picture here as it promises to be a relatively crisp and clear day.

See you all for a briefing at 13:00.

No Wind

Cath's right, sun, warm weather, almost summer - well that's stretching it a bit, but no wind whatsoever.

Only one helm turned up, and we didn't launch, not even a day for Enterprise "rocking and rolling".

Better luck in December - we hope.
